How to clean a yoga mat and why you need it.

2022-05-18

Yoga is a wonderful way to improve your physical and mental condition and is often used as a supplement to traditional cardio or strength training. Even though yoga is called a "simple stretch," it's a strenuous exercise that can make you sweat and make your yoga mat dirty. In turn, it can become a breeding ground for bacteria and fungi. Here are a few ways to clean your yoga mat.

One of three methods:

① Wash your yoga mat manually.

Step 1 Buy a ready-made cleaner to clean your yoga mat or make your own. Ready-made cleaners are sold at sporting goods stores or online stores and are usually inexpensive.

2. Mix 1 TBSP. (15ml) detergent or dish detergent, add 3-4 warm water. Stir well and use a spray bottle to lightly spray this mixture onto the surface of the carpet. Wipe gently with a sponge to make sure everything is clean.

② Wash your yoga mat in the washing machine.

For easy cleaning, please throw the mat into the washing machine. Use cold water and a neutral cleaner. After washing, rinse the carpet from the soap with warm water. When cleaning the carpet, please observe the machine. Stop it before starting the rotation cycle.

③ Dry the carpet.

Hang the mat on a clothesline or place it on a dedicated dryer. Give him enough time to dry.

You can roll the rugs with a towel or two to allow them to absorb moisture. This is ideal if you don't have space to dry the mat. Carpet will most likely not dry completely, so it is best to dry by weight.

Before cleaning or cleaning the mat, check the label to see if it can be cleaned as described above.

Washing in the machine should be carried out separately from other clothing.

If frequent basic cleaning of the carpet can be avoided before or after each yoga session, sprinkle warm water on the carpet and wipe it down.

Rinse off all soap thoroughly before drying the carpet. After drying, residual soap can make the mat slip, which can lead to injury during training.
